Uncharted 3 Multiplayer Beta Pre-game

With the Uncharted 3 Beta right around the corner, I thought everyone should be prepared for the onslaught. Here’s a few details and tips on the beta to make sure your ready.

First of all, if you’ve been living under a rock and haven’t watch the Beta video, watch it right here.

Now from that video you can see that Naughty Dog has really been working on their multiplayer. They’ve actually been working on it since Uncharted 2 launch. Now lets get into everything you need to know about the Beta.

What modes will we be playing?
Team Deathmatch (As always)
3-Team Deathmatch (2 v 2 v 2)
Team Objective (Things like King of the Hill, Chain Reaction)
Free-for-All (8 players. Basic Deathmatch)
Plunder(Capture the Treasure)
High Stakes ( 8 players. Gamble with your XP and cash)
And 3 co-op maps.

What maps will be be playing on?
The Chateau – Which is a more traditional arena map type.

The Airfield – Is a 2 part map that starts of on the airstrip between the plane and trucks chasing it, then moves to a more practical hanger area.

What Guns will be available?
Long guns – AK-47, G-Mal and the Dragon Sniper
Various Pistols including the revolver sully uses and the Micro
As for power weapons the RPG

What Weapon Mods will be available?
Long Guns – Clip size extension and Call Out (which shows the location of enemies)
Hand Guns – Increase the total amount of ammo and the rate of fire for the Arm Micro

What Boosters will be available?
Boosters are equipable abilities that affect gameplay. You can equip 2 boosters at the same time, and now you’ll gain experience for using a booster. So, you’re not only leveling up your profile, you’re also leveling up your abilities individually when you play the game.
Booster Slot 1
Come Here – See the opponent that killed you on your radar until he or she dies.
Retaliation – Spawn with the Power Weapon you were killed by.
Cloaked – Opponents won’t see you on the radar and you can’t be heard.
Weapon Expert – Gives you the ability to add additional mods to you weapons.
Booster Slot 2
Back in the Saddle – Reduces your respawn time.
Bargain – Decreases the cost of Medal Kickbacks.
Power Hunter – See the location of Power Weapons.
Daredevil – When you taunt over a defeated opponent, you get extra ammo.

What are Power Plays?
Power Plays are new to the Uncharted Multiplayer world. These are one-minute events that’ll occur in blowouts to give the losing team a fighting chance. Think; hockey. So if your team is getting destroyed, expect to get a bit of help from the game. And if your the team doing the destroying, you also get bonuses for killing the other team while they’re doing a power play.

Marked Man – A person on the winning team is marked, and the losing team gets 3 points if they kill him. Meanwhile, the winning team gets double cash for each kill and a special medal if the Marked Man doesn’t die.
Cursed – The winning team sees all characters as skeletons and friendly fire is turned on. Each time the losing team gets a kill or the winning team kills one of its own, the losing team gets two points. Meanwhile, the winning team gets double cash for each member of the losing team killed.
Exposed – The winning team’s location is revealed to the losing team. The winning team gets double cash for each losing team member killed.
Double Damage – Losing team inflicts double damage. Winning team earns double cash for each kill.

What are Medal Kickbacks?
Alright so when your playing Uncharted 2 multiplayer online you get medals for performing a certain task. Things like Gunslinger(Get 5 kills with handguns) and Streak(Get 5 kills without dying). Medal Kickbacks are a sort of bonus to to those players who tend to get alot of medals during a match. Like in the video when the guy randomly spawned a RPG. So build up enough medals, and you’ll be able to activate your kickback.

Smoke Bomb – You vanish in a puff of smoke.
Speedy G – You get a speed boost.
RPG!!! – You instantly spawn an RPG.
Cluster Bomb – One grenade explodes into multiple grenades.

What rewards are there for participating in the beta?
>Download the Uncharted 3 Beta and receive the exclusive UNCHARTED 3 PSN Beta Tester Avatar!
>Complete 10 matches in every mode of Competitive Multiplayer and receive the Exclusive Beta Decal Pack 1!
>Complete 5 matches in every mode of Co-operative Multiplayer and receive the Exclusive Beta Decal Pack 2!
>Complete 4 Treasure Sets and receive the Treasure Hunter’s Starter Pack!
>Rank up to level 25 in the Beta and receive a handsome reward of in-game cash on day one!

What else is new?
Sprinting – A sprint button has been added to the game. Can’t wait to see how that will affect gameplay.

Video and Picture Uploading – The Cinema Mode for multiplayer had been drastically upgraded, and now allows you to upload videos directly to your Facebook AND Youtube account. So sharing the ownage just got easier.

The Buddy System – Each player will be paired with a Buddy for a match. You will be able to spawn on your buddy and share your success throughout that match together. A team that sticks together in Uncharted online is usually the team that wins.

Late Join – This is in most multiplayer games today, so its good to see Naughty Dog implement it into theirs as well. This will ensure matches stay full and make it easier for you to play matches with your friends.

Same-Console split screen – I could tear up at the thought of this. This is probably one of the best additions to the experience. Not to mention being able to sign into 2 different PSN IDs while you play.

Character and Weapon Customization – The team at Naughty Dog have really been working on they’re multiplayer section. So much that we will be able to not only customize our weapons and boosters, but your characters as well. Weather your playing as Drake, Sully, a treasure hunter, or a Pirate, you will have a plethora of items to customize with. Also there has bee a emblem system added for all you clans out there.

Weapon Loadouts – They’ve added 4 loadout slots so you can choose your starting rifle, starting sidearm, weapon customizations and mods, Boosters, and Kickbacks.

Overtime and Sudden Death – When matches are reaching the time limit and they’re really close (1-2 kills apart im guessing) they will enter Overtime giving the teams a set amount of time to beat the other team by 2 kills or more. If it remains close the game will enter Sudden Death, which is basically the last man standing wins.(Elimination from Uncharted 2 Multiplayer)

Level Cap? – A few of you are what will be the level cap this time around. The level cap for this Beta will be Level 25, so good luck.

Uncharted 3 Multiplayer Beta, including Co-op, will be starting June 28th, for all PS+ members, and anyone who has the voucher from Infamous 2. And for the rest of you noobs it starts on July 4th, ending on July 13th for everyone. With all this knowledge, we hope we’ve armed you enough to have a great Beta experience. Hope to see you there. Stay Beastly
