31 Days of Video Games: Day 21

It’s finally day 21 for the 31 Days of Video Games Challenge!!  I bet you’re wondering why I’m so exited. Well today’s category happens to be one I couldn’t wait to do. So lets get into it. “Video Game with the best story.”

Now I know everyone was expecting me to pick Uncharted 2: Honor Among Thieves for the Best Story Award, but as epic as its story was I found another quite more impressive. Now for a game to have a great story it has to be immersive, have great characters, a well written plot, and a number of other things. And the game that has it all and so much more is none other than Bioshock.

Bioshock is set in the Utopian underwater city known as Rapture, where “the artist would not fear the censor, where the scientist would not be bound by petty morality, where the great would not be constrained by the small”. Which means it wont be affected by thing like government, or religion. If you work hard in rapture, you get what you deserve. And with that the story has already caught someones eye. It is later filled with complex characters such as Andrew Ryan the Founder of Rapture, Atlas the guy helping you along, and Dr.Tannenbaum the woman who created the little sisters.

The Elite of Rapture Society: Brigid Tenenbaum, Sander Cohen, Gil Alexander, Andrew Ryan, Sofia Lamb, and Yi Suchong

One of the main aspects of the game is the use of ADAM and EVE. ADAM being a substance that re-writes your genetic code so you can do things like shoot lightning from your hands, use telekinesis, or even summon a swarm of bees. And EVE is the substance that powers these abilities. Mix that with gun play, and you got a great combat system. The way you obtain ADAM is quite difficult as it is generated by Little Sisters who are guarded by Big Daddies, so be prepared to have your work cut out for ya.

Now before I say too much, though i’ve only scratched the surface, I will allow you to go and play this game yourself. Let you mind dive down to the city that isn’t restrained by the laws of everyday man. Bioshock is a deep, twisted, and highly impressive epic story with very little flaws. Which is why it takes today’s “Game with the Best Story” So, Would you Kindly so and play it now?
