Battlefield 3 (Console) Review

Can DICE's game put the Call of Duty franchise to rest?  Or is DICE all bark and no bite?  Find out after the jump. Developer: DICE Publisher: Electronic Arts Platforms: PC, PS3, Xbox 360 *reviewed on the PS3 Genre: First Person Shooter Modes: Single Player, Co-Op, Multiplayer Rating: M BeastNotes: Many people like to compare games because they have a couple of similarities and Modern Warfare and Battlefield are compared ruthlessly.  Which one is better?  Battlefield sucks, Modern Warfare is king!  You know, stuff like that.  However, I feel that compare these two games are unfair because they have different goals that they try to reach despite being in the same genre.  I feel that comparing Call of Duty to Battlefield is like comparing apples to oranges.  With that said, I will actually refrain from reviewing Battlefield like a Call of Duty fanboy elitest.  Instead, I will be reviewing Battlefield as its own ...

Episode Review: Ben-To 2

I don't know how Ben-To does it, but they put a unique twist to something really dumb. I always appreciates half-priced boxed lunches, but Ben-To just makes it all the more interesting. (more…)

Batman Arkham City Review

Developer: Rocksteady Publisher: Warner Bros. Interactive Platforms: PC, PS3, Xbox 360 *reviewed on the PS3 Genre: Action Adventure, Stealth Modes: Single Player Rating: T     BeastNotes: Batman is back, and boy is he pissed! I don't blame Batman for being pissed this time around, he easily took Game of the Year in Arkham Asylum, but this year he has his work cut out for him competing against Call of Duty, Battlefield, and many others. If you enjoyed Arkham Asylum in some form or fashion than Batman: Arkham City is for you. Rocksteady has somehow took everything that made Arkham Asylum an amazing game and made it even better. The combat is still a blast to play around with, I found myself getting the combat system down pat pretty quickly and once you find out to get through a street fight in this game without getting hurt, then th...

Episode Review: Maken-Ki 2

Not pleased very much. Maken-Ki is becoming quite predictable and the action may not be worth the wait. As the anime begins to explain the origins of the plot, we wonder if we will come back to this series. (more…)

Should I Watch That — Ep. 15

Hey everyone looks like its that time of the week again. What time you ask? SIWT time of course! This week Shannon will be running the show due to Roddy's busy schedule this week, but we missed him dearly on this great episode. This week we had a short show filled with some trailer talk of the new Avengers trailer, The Raven, and Happy Feet 2. And then we went into some interesting Movie and TV news including, Quikster being no more, Wolverine getting a PG13 AND R version, and some crazy lady suing FilmDistrict for the "Misleading" Drive trailer. Yeah, I know. But anyway hope you enjoy this weeks episode of SIWT. SHOWNOTES Whatcha Been Watchin’ Josh - Thundercats, Young Justice, Bones, Glee, Fast Five James - Breaking Bad Shannon - The Walking Dead, Real Steel TrailerTalk The Avengers The Raven Happy Feet Two News Javier Bardem confirms villain in Bond 23 Johnny Depp news: Disney Close to Reviving Johnny Depp’s Th...

The Wii U – Did They Jump The Gun?

Nintendo has a history of being the last to reveal a console; however, being last, luckily, has not hindered their sales.  On June 7, 2011, Nintendo became the first company to announce their next generation system, the Wii U.  Aside from the horrible name of the system, Nintendo boasted about how this system was much more powerful than the PS3 and Xbox 360, how it is now capable of 1080p graphics, and a touchscreen controller they you can use to play your games on.  What made them want to make a new system so fast?  The fact that people were complaining about how the Wii catered to the casual audience and was not a system for hardcore gamers despite being the best selling console of the generation.  With that said, Nintendo hopes to lure back its hardcore gamers with the Wii U. Now, I am excited with what the Wii U has to bring to the table but I honestly think that they are pushing the system out a little too fast.  We have ...

NBA 2K12 Review

Could this year's iteration of the NBA 2K series be the best basketball game ever?  Or were the new "improvements" detrimental to the game? With the NBA lockout possibly destroying the chances of another NBA season, 2K Sport was not deterred from making another game for those that are still looking to have an NBA experience.  Every year, 2K Sports has been improving its game and this year is no different, even with the lack of competition *cough*NBA ELITE*cough* .  Some fans of the game may not like these improvements because they preferred last year's gameplay; however, the changes that were added has made the game a much better experience in my case.  I am having an absolute blast with the game and have not been able to put it down since I got my hands on it.  If you are not happy with the NBA and its lockout, then NBA 2K12 will be more than enough to tide you over until this season -or another- starts. Episode Review: Maken-Ki 1

MEDIABEASt looks at Maken-Ki for the first time. Unfortunately, it only seems like it's a second rate "Freezing". Aside from that, it looks like another predictable ecchi. Lucky for this anime, the action looks like it will be enough to keep us coming back. (more…)

Should I Watch That — Ep. 14

Prepare yourselves for a heavy helping of SIWT! This week, we catch up on films we've missed recently, gain a second wind for David Fincher's latest, analyze the continuing fall of 3D, get excited about the long-awaited return of one of the greatest shows to ever hit television, and review a show that redefines what TV can be. We did something a little different this week, opting to review a TV show rather than a film, but we feel like it was more than well worth it. If you see the time and get freaked out, don't worry, the show should run at just barely over two hours; we have a gigantic spoiler section for our review since it's difficult to speak on without giving much away. If you haven't seen it yet, be sure to catch it, and come back to listen!
