Should I Watch That — Ep. 16

Hello everyone! SIWT returns from hiatus with one of our bloodiest episodes yet as we unleash our individual lists of our favorites/disappointments from 2011. We emerge from the wreckage to make peace when it's time to look ahead to see what's in store for moviegoers in 2012 but it's short-lived as one of the crew continues the madness. Shannon missed the carnage this week but she'll be around when the dust settles to give her Top 5 as well! In the meantime, enjoy this podcast equivalent of Battle Royale! SHOWNOTES (3:11) Josh's Top 5 (7:21) James' Top 5 (14:12) Chris' Top 5 (41:57) Rod's Top 5 (1:02:55) Disappointments of 2011 (1:20:00) Anticipated Films of 2012

Should I Watch That — Ep. 14

Prepare yourselves for a heavy helping of SIWT! This week, we catch up on films we've missed recently, gain a second wind for David Fincher's latest, analyze the continuing fall of 3D, get excited about the long-awaited return of one of the greatest shows to ever hit television, and review a show that redefines what TV can be. We did something a little different this week, opting to review a TV show rather than a film, but we feel like it was more than well worth it. If you see the time and get freaked out, don't worry, the show should run at just barely over two hours; we have a gigantic spoiler section for our review since it's difficult to speak on without giving much away. If you haven't seen it yet, be sure to catch it, and come back to listen! SHOWNOTES Whatcha Been Watchin’ Rod – It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia, Community, 50/50 (3:26) James – Cloverfield (12:25) Chris – Crash (19:44) Shannon – The Bourne Trilogy...

Should I Watch That — Ep. 13

Finally! We're back (hopefully, this is the last time we have to say that for a while)! This episode has been a long time coming and we, at MediaBeast, hope you can accept our deepest apologies for that. We tried to record this at least four times over the course of a couple weeks but luck refused to be on our side. Equipment failure, scheduling issues, lost recordings (we actually did an entire, 2 plus hour episode a week ago but it vanished as soon as we finished it), a surprise departure of one of our own...things were certainly not looking great for SIWT. However, we've since gotten things worked out so SIWT should be on a more consistent schedule for here on out! This comeback episode is more streamlined than our normal episodes so naturally, it's on the shorter side for us, clocking in at a little over an hour; it was recorded in the middle of the week, when the crew is the busiest. Regardless, the crew wanted to do their...

SIWT: Post-Credits — Ep. 2

SIWT: Post-Credits is the main show’s aftershow where topics not discussed there find their way here! Fresh off our Transformers: Dark of the Moon review, the SIWT guys delve into what kind of divide is formed between audiences and critics these days, specifically with the newest entry in the Michael Bay-directed franchise. What entices the general public to see certain films? Are critics even considered relevant? Let us know what you think by leaving a comment below. [powerpress]

So, we went ahead and finished last week's episode for you all to enjoy. We'll be back up-to-date next week with a brand new episode! (more…)

Should I Watch That — May 9, 2011

This week is SIWT's most explosive episode yet. Not only are the crew joined by MediaBeast brethren Chronos and Black Hulk, but several topics get the guys heated with one another: race relations in Hollywood, practical effects vs. CGI, film adaptations of video games, and much more. This week's review is Thor, the new Marvel Studios' film. Did the film overcome the initial negativity of its' marketing campaign or is doomed to be a mockery of yet another comic book franchise? *When we spoke about Columbiana, we mention how "it's Luc Besson's film" but it should be noted that he is NOT directing it. He has writing and producing credit* SHOWNOTES Intro (0:00-2:04) MediaBeast overlord Black Hulk and Chronos from the GPR show join us! Whatcha Been Watchin’ (2:04) Black Hulk – The Office, Get Him to the Greek (5:56) Chronos – NBA Playoffs (8:01) Clif – Misfits, The Office, Community (26:10) Rod – Donald Glover concert ...
