Mass Effect 3 Review

With the end of one of gaming's most critically acclaimed trilogies, does Bioware deliver an ending the Mass Effect universe deserves or has Electronic Arts made everything they touch turn into a pile of cow pies? *Disclaimer: Reviewed on the Xbox 360*   Story: The universe is on the brink of extinction thanks to a sapient race known as "The Reapers."  All of this drama has been building up through two games and Commander Shepard is still the one running around trying to get the entire universe that the Reapers are real.  Now that the Reapers are attacking every single species in the universe, the universe has no choice but to listen to Shepard.  Despite the apparent danger, the other species were not willing to unite and take on the Reapers.  With that said, Shepard has to be peace maker and unite the species to fight the Reapers who threaten to doom the entire universe. We begin the story on Earth.  Everything se...

Final Fantasy XIII-2 Review

Can the sequel to Final Fantasy XIII live up to the expectations?  Or is it also an overhyped game that will fall victim to its predecessor? Developer: Square Enix Publisher: Square Enix Platforms: PS3/Xbox 360 Genre: Role Playing Game Modes: Single Player Rating: T BeastNotes: Final Fantasy has solidified itself in the gaming world as one of the best RPG franchises, but, as of late, Final Fantasy has not been giving the gaming world a reason to hold on to that title.  Many fans of the game have been complaining that the series have not been true to its roots and have been weary to try new Final Fantasy games because of that.  Final Fantasy XIII has a love or hate relationship with its Final Fantasy fanbase.  Fans either love the changes or hate it.  As a fan of the game, I will admit that Final Fantasy XIII is nothing like the past games where turnbased battles took place.  However, I thoroughly enjoyed the c...

Battlefield 3 (Console) Review

Can DICE's game put the Call of Duty franchise to rest?  Or is DICE all bark and no bite?  Find out after the jump. Developer: DICE Publisher: Electronic Arts Platforms: PC, PS3, Xbox 360 *reviewed on the PS3 Genre: First Person Shooter Modes: Single Player, Co-Op, Multiplayer Rating: M BeastNotes: Many people like to compare games because they have a couple of similarities and Modern Warfare and Battlefield are compared ruthlessly.  Which one is better?  Battlefield sucks, Modern Warfare is king!  You know, stuff like that.  However, I feel that compare these two games are unfair because they have different goals that they try to reach despite being in the same genre.  I feel that comparing Call of Duty to Battlefield is like comparing apples to oranges.  With that said, I will actually refrain from reviewing Battlefield like a Call of Duty fanboy elitest.  Instead, I will be reviewing Battlefield as its own ...

Batman Arkham City Review

Developer: Rocksteady Publisher: Warner Bros. Interactive Platforms: PC, PS3, Xbox 360 *reviewed on the PS3 Genre: Action Adventure, Stealth Modes: Single Player Rating: T     BeastNotes: Batman is back, and boy is he pissed! I don't blame Batman for being pissed this time around, he easily took Game of the Year in Arkham Asylum, but this year he has his work cut out for him competing against Call of Duty, Battlefield, and many others. If you enjoyed Arkham Asylum in some form or fashion than Batman: Arkham City is for you. Rocksteady has somehow took everything that made Arkham Asylum an amazing game and made it even better. The combat is still a blast to play around with, I found myself getting the combat system down pat pretty quickly and once you find out to get through a street fight in this game without getting hurt, then th...

NBA 2K12 Review

Could this year's iteration of the NBA 2K series be the best basketball game ever?  Or were the new "improvements" detrimental to the game? With the NBA lockout possibly destroying the chances of another NBA season, 2K Sport was not deterred from making another game for those that are still looking to have an NBA experience.  Every year, 2K Sports has been improving its game and this year is no different, even with the lack of competition *cough*NBA ELITE*cough* .  Some fans of the game may not like these improvements because they preferred last year's gameplay; however, the changes that were added has made the game a much better experience in my case.  I am having an absolute blast with the game and have not been able to put it down since I got my hands on it.  If you are not happy with the NBA and its lockout, then NBA 2K12 will be more than enough to tide you over until this season -or another- starts. BeastNotes Version...

Deus Ex: Human Revolution Review (Second Opinion)

This is my review of Deus Ex: Human Revolution. BeastNotes Version:  As stated in the previous review, Deus Ex: Human Revolution is all about choice.  This is apparent in the game.  You have many ways to complete a mission and the consequences may or may not be as rewarding as one option.  The campaign/story can be short to some people, but it is the side quests that makes the game lengthy and fun.  Also, the side quests can give substantial rewards and, most importantly, experience for you to upgrade your augmentations. The way you go about the game is all up to you.  It is your choice.  As stated before, one way will be more rewarding than the other.  In general, being stealthy will yield maximum benefits in the form of experience, but you can run and gun if you choose to do so.  Overall, the game is fun, especially if you prefer the stealth part of the game.  A.I. can be a little clunky at times and certainly predictable...
